Home Decorating Ideas:
Truly American Decor Styles
Along with these elements we will incorporate color, art, furnishings, accessories and indoor plants.
Something I want to convey here is that it is totally acceptable to mix these styles or if you have a preference, go with one style. So let me say this. And this is just my opinion of course. You have a log home. Can you use southwestern or western decorating in your north woods home? Yes! You have an adobe home. Can you use western and north woods decor? Yes! You live in a New York high rise, a loft in downtown
Denver’s Lodo with some beautiful lofts for sale or you have a home in the suburbs or the country. Can you use these decor styles? Yes!
In are future posts we will talk briefly about these styles.
Then in future post we will talk about each of these styles in more detail and as we move on how to mix them.
Southwestern: A casual but elegant style that was inspired from nature and the Spanish and Pioneer settlers that populated the American Southwest in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Southwestern decor is earth tone colors, brightly colored tiles, chevron and diamond patterns, cactus, terra cotta, desert, Spanish, Native American elements and beautiful southwestern art like that of McShep.
Western: That is the true nature of America. “Go west young man”.
Western decor is all things of the American West. Horses, rope, leather , wood, metal and antiques.
I found this video, well really music to a painting looking down the Yosemite valley, as you listen you can conger up memories of movies or trips or pictures you’ve seen and there’s your western decor style.
North woods: The mountains, moose, elk, deer, bears, and the American bald eagle “oh my”.
North woods decor is wood, leather, hide, pine cones, stone and animal decorating accessories.
I want to leave you with one last thought.
